If you are not in the Highlands County area, these are some of the other organizations throughout Florida that rescue and find homes for cats, dogs, horses, and other animals.

Adopt A Cat Foundation - A non-profit organization, committed to finding loving homes for rescued cats and kittens. (Lake Park)

Animal Aid - Dedicated to the welfare of stray and feral animals and to the reduction in the over-population problems through education and spay/neuter efforts. (Oakland Park)

Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County - The Animal Welfare League, based in Port Charlotte, is a non-profit humane organization committed to animal protection and welfare.

C.A.R.E. - A non-profit, no-kill animal shelter for abused and abandoned cats and dogs. (Ruskin)

Cat Depot - A no-kill, not-for-profit feline sanctuary located in Sarasota, Florida.

Chihuahua Rescue & Transport - We are dedicated to rescue, adoption and the medical care of stray and homeless Chihuahuas in need, and to help control the growing overpopulation through spaying and neutering all dogs in our care. (Throughout Florida)

Chihuahua -Toy Breed Rescue and Retirement, Inc. - A registered non-profit 501c3 all volunteer organization dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned, abused, and homeless Toy Breeds. (Pembroke Pines)

Coastal Poodle Rescue - Rehabilitates unwanted, abused and abandoned poodles and then places them in loving and responsible homes to live out their lives as cherished family members. (Melbourne)

Cocker Spaniel/ Small Dog Rescue of Central Florida - Run by a small group of dedicated, unpaid volunteers. Most of our dogs come from local animal shelters where rescue organizations like ours are considered a "last resort." This means that we are called upon to rescue the dog after it has not been claimed or adopted, and is scheduled to be euthanized. (Within 200-mile radius of Orlando, Florida)

Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay - Save a spot in your heart, adopt a Tampa Bay Dalmatian and get a lifelong pal!

Equestrian Inc. - Equine Rescue is a horse rescue and rehabilitation facility located in Tampa. It does not sell horses, but facilitates the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of those animals in its care.

Dobermann Rescue of Lake Placid, Inc. - A list on Petfinders of Dobermans available for adoption from Dobermann Rescue of Lake Placid, Inc. This all-volunteer organization accepts Dobermans from humane societies, animal control facilities, people no longer able to care for them, and other sources. Dogs & Cats Forever - Rescues abandoned, neglected and unwanted pets in effort to eliminate a growing population of homeless animals in St. Lucie County. The animals at our facility are available for adoption to loving homes and those animals considered un-adoptable will live out their life comfortably at our 10.2 acre no-kill facility in western Port St. Lucie.

Dookie's House Ferret Rescue & Shelter - Dookie's House is a no-kill shelter located near Cocoa, Florida and is currently no longer accepting ferrets except for listing on the adoptable page or on Dookie's List.

Florida Boxer Rescue - Strives to rescue unwanted and abandoned purebred Boxers in central and western Florida and place them in safe, responsible, loving, and PERMANENT homes. Florida Boxer Rescue works in conjunction with BARC and Coastal Boxer Rescue for assistance or adoptions in other parts of the state.

Florida Cat Rescue - An organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in the Marco Island community.

Florida Cocker Spaniel Rescue - Takes in unwanted dogs and provides food, shelter, and medical care until permanent homes can be found for them. (Land O Lakes)

Florida Doggie Paws Rescue, Inc. - Our mission is to responsibly rescue, rehabilitate, foster and find permanent loving homes for unwanted, abandoned and abused small to medium breed dogs in our community and throughout Florida.

Florida English Bulldog Rescue (FEBR) - A volunteer group whose mission is to rehab and re-home neglected, abused, and unwanted English Bulldogs throughout the state of Florida. The group also provides a safe alternative to shelters for owners faced with the decision to find a new home for their bulldog.

Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions Orlando - A non-profit all volunteer organization, that is racing neutral and dedicated to the placement of retired racing greyhounds into qualified, caring and loving homes. It is our mission to educate the public regarding the gentle nature and wonderful temperament of the greyhound breed.

Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida, Inc. - Dedicated to giving displaced Golden Retrievers a new beginning since 1991. (Goldenrod)

Heartland Cat Rescue & Adoption Society, Inc. - A no-kill rescue organization for cats operated by volunteers. The organization's mission is to find permanent loving homes for the kittens and cats it rescues. (Highlands Co.)

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Inc. - A dedicated group of volunteers working to ensure their rescues are provided with deserving homes and families. (Altamonte Springs)

Little Angels Rescue - A private, no-kill, non-profit small breed, dog rescue organization based in Arcadia, Florida. We specialize in finding homes for both purebred and mixed breed dogs. (Arcadia)

The Little Cats' Rescue, Inc. - An all volunteer staff with foster homes and "the sanctuary," where the "lifers" and those awaiting Petsmart space or to be adopted from here, live happily and freely together, uncaged. It is a member of No More Homeless Pets and The Animal Coalition of Tampa. (Serves Pasco County, North West Hillsborough County, North Pinellas County)

Lost Angels Animal Rescue, Inc. - Helps dogs in need by saving them from shelters that do not yet support the no-kill philosophy. (Tampa)

Mill Creek Farm - Retirement Home for Horses at Mill Creek Farm is a nonprofit equine sanctuary located in Alachua. It provides lifelong care for horses that have been neglected or abused or that are unwanted and destined for slaughter.

Orange County Animal Services - Lists photographs of the animals that are current guests at the shelter. Each animal, pending acceptable temperament testing and health screen, may be available for adoption. Also has other types of animals available, such as hamsters. (Orange County)

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, the Humane Society of the Palm Beaches - Its mission is to provide shelter to lost, homeless, and unwanted animals; to furnish medical and other services for the care of companion animals; to care for, protect, and find quality homes for homeless and neglected animals; to advocate animal welfare, community involvement and education to further the bond between people and animals, for the mutual benefit of both. Promise Acres Equine Rescue - Promise Acres is an equine rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming facility whose goal is to improve the well-being of the horses who enter the premises. (Avon Park)

Purrs and Whiskers Shelter, Inc. (PAWS) - A non-profit 501 (c) 3, all-volunteer organization, dedicated to assisting cats and kittens through its rescue, foster, and adoption activities. We find loving homes for unwanted, abandoned, homeless, or abused cats and kittens. (Located in Melbourne)

Rescuing Animals in Need (R.A.I.N.) - Dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs from local animal shelters, individuals who no longer want or cannot care for their pets, and animals who live their lives as strays. (Orlando area)

Safe Animal Shelter - The shelter is committed to providing a safe haven for strays and unwanted pets, and to help reduce the overpopulation of such animals. (Middleburg)

SaveABoxer.org - Second Chance Boxer Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehab, and re-home dogs throughout Florida, (specifically boxers) that would be otherwise euthanized. (Thonotosassa)

SPCA Lakeland - The SPCA located in Lakeland, FL is committed to providing aid, comfort, and relief to abandoned or suffering animals, and to placing surrendered pets in safe, loving and lifetime homes.

SPCA Suncoast - From its inception in 1964 to the present, the SPCA Suncoast has grown into a facility which offers many services for homeless and abused animals. (New Port Richey)

Suncoast Animal League - A non-profit, no-kill animal rescue agency, taking in abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals. Started by Rick Chaboudy, who was Director of the Humane Society of Pinellas County for 20 years. (Palm Harbor)

Suncoast Basset Rescue - Organization dedicated to rescuing and finding homes for basset hounds. (Weirsdale)

Suncoast Humane Society - Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood. SHS cares for more than 4,700 lost, abused, and abandoned animals annually. It exists to reduce the numbers of homeless animals and improve the quality of human life through animal companionship. (Englewood)

Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue Inc. - An all volunteer, foster based non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that specializes in pure-bred Beagles, Beagle mixes, and puppies from shelters and abuse situations.

Tampa Bay GSD Rescue - An all volunteer non-profit pet rescue organization for German Shepherd Dogs. (Riverview)

Tropical Feline Rescue Inc. - A small 501(c)(3) non profit rescue group dedicated to saving homeless cats at risk of euthanasia across Florida. It is not a shelter and do not accept owner turn ins or strays. (Hudson)
