Cats at Animal Control
If your cat is missing, be sure to personally visit Animal Control often, as cats are held only for six days. Even if your missing cat is microchipped, do not rely on the mistaken belief that all cats entering Animal Control are scanned. Apparently they will be scanned only if they are easy to handle. Most cats are understandably terrified when trapped and may hrash about wildly in an effort to free themselves. That makes the cats very difficult to handle, increasing the likelihood they won't be scanned for the presence of a microchip.
